unnamed.jpg

BACKGROUND

  • There is a huge influx of refugees and newcomers from Ukraine, Afghanistan and Hong Kong in recent years. There are more people being scattered, and dispersed involuntarily today than any other time in recent history because of war, violence, economic or environmental factors.

  • Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic, we have witnessed a significant increase in mental health issues such as anxiety, cognitive and attention deficits, depression and panic attacks in all ages, especially children and youth.

  • Hong Kong youth used the “Life Boat” scheme as a pathway to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

  • Newcomers from Hong Kong facing isolation, cultural shock, emotional distress, and need adjustment to a new lifestyle in Canada.
